A passionate full-time artist for around 20 years, I paint in oils, switching between fine brushwork and the palette knife, depending on the demands of each painting. I am mostly self-taught, constantly learning and upskilling through experiments, online tutorials, traditional art books and being inspired by other artists. Having travelled extensively, my inspiration comes from being at peace in nature, whether at the Egyptian pyramids, exploring the jungle in Belize or free-diving with living treasures in the ocean. For the last few years, my work has explored small-town urban and rural landscapes, the wide vistas of the Little Karoo as well as the inner landscapes of the human subconscious.
My other love is fishing, which I take every opportunity to pursue. Just a short walk from my studio, fishing in Gouritsmond allows me to quiet my busy creative mind and stretch my legs between long stints at the easel. My passion for ocean life has inspired a range of sculptures of the local fish, which have found their way onto the walls of many collectors.
I have expanded my artistic offering with lino cutting and printmaking, incorporating landscape and natural scenes in the reduction lino printing method.
