Where are you from and how does that affect your work?
From a rural upbringing, living in the country, my imagery are mostly landscape based or has a
stillness that reflects my surrounds.
Who are your biggest artistic influences?
A variety of local and international artists that reflect my technical and iconographical interests, as well
as the work of some masters.
Tell me about your favorite medium;
Drawing is my favourite medium, it allows me to use markmaking to express my interests in my subject matter.
Where do you find inspiration?
In my surrounds, as well as in the work and imagery of other people, depending on how compatible their vision is with my
interest.
When is your favorite time of day to create?
Not really a specific time of day, really when the mood takes me.
Describe how art is important to society;
I think that it reflects cultural issues, reminds people of what they forget to see and feel, and has
the power to bring insight and uplift.
What motivates you to create?
Having an idea, whether it is perceived from my surrounds or whether it is a technical challenge to be explored.
How do you define success as an artist?
I am doing what I love to do.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Yes, it allows me better perception.
How do you develop your art skills?
Practicing, I feel that engaging in a skill results in new insights.
